2 new songs on Deathbomb Arc digital singles club
Deathbomb Arc is one of the longest running labels in LA DIY, releasing tons of diverse and unique documents of underground music across the world, so I’m super excited about this new digital singles club that Brian’s doing and am super flattered that I’m kicking the series of 52 weekly singles off on Monday, September 6th with 2 brand new songs: “Carpool Pepsi (feat. Ancient Crux)” and “Machine Shop.”
Because Deathbomb and the LA DIY scene have always thrived on artists in such a wide variety of genres working side by side, I’ve decided to have my 2 songs be completely different musically and stylistically, but complementary in tone, texture, and recording setup: one is a 90’s inspired pop/punk/rock tune featuring longtime friend Travis von Sydow aka Ancient Crux on drums (my first released song with live drums!), and the other is a swirling, ambient/drone song with fingerpicked melodies and orchestral swells of arpeggiated guitar chords.
For just a little bit more than what most labels are charging for one 7” single these days, you can get 52 brand new weekly singles from tons of friends and artists I respect, be surprised by lots of new bands you haven’t heard yet, and have it all delivered straight to your email every Monday. “In the tradition of the Deathbomb Arc Tape Club, Deathbomb is excited to announce the Deathbomb Digital Singles Club. Embracing new trends in digital technology, this club expands on our mission of bringing you new music, from both well known and totally underground bands, at an unbelievably affordable price.
Beginning the first monday in September 2010, and going till Sept 2011, subscribers will be send a secret link and password to 2 previously unreleased tracks. Each week will be a different band covering a huge variety of genres from noise-rock to breakcore, from witch house to new age and more. Each digital single will have gorgeous art made for it by Mario Zoots of Modern Witch.
The tracks will be made available in both hi-res and mp3 quality. In addition to the 52 weeks of new singles, occasional bonus releases will be sent to subscribers. For the mere $10 subscription cost, you will end up getting these previously unreleased tracks for less than 10 cents each.
